This week’s program features the new biography of John Henry Faulk, a Texas native, whose courage, pluck and humor during the McCarthy era of the 1950’s won him many fans. Along with readings from the biography by author Chris Drake, there will be short excerpts from the film of Faulk’s “one-man” stage show, “Pear Orchard” in which John Henry studies the human condition and with great hilarity, immortalizes some iconic “personalities” of east Texas. We will learn about the legal battle of Faulk with the blacklisting McCarthyites and just why John Henry fought and prevailed in those treacherous times.
